How does Botox work?
Botox injections weaken or paralyze certain muscles by blocking the nerves to those muscles. The muscle is unable to contract, which makes any associated wrinkles relax. Botox is commonly used on crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines, and forehead lines.

What does the treatment involve?
One of the reasons many people like Botox is that treatment only takes a few minutes, and there is no anesthesia needed. Beta Hydroxy Acid Peels

Fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and oily or uneven skin tones are facial characteristics that most people wish they didn’t have. Beta hydroxy acid (BHA) peels offer a solution to take care of those problems. Most commonly comprised of salicylic acid, BHA peels remove a very thin layer of skin to promote the growth of new, smoother skin.

Treatment
BHA peels can be done simply and quickly in an outpatient medical office, medical spa, or plastic surgeon’s office. The procedure is typically painless, other than possible mild tingling or stinging. Anesthesia is usually not needed. Skin exfoliation by applying a cream at home in the weeks prior to treatment may be recommended, which can improve the results of the peel. Sun exposure should be limited, and sunscreen of SPF 30 or more is advised. For the BHA peel itself, after a thorough skin cleansing, the peel is applied to your skin for 10-15 minutes. The solution is then rinsed off with cold water. You can resume your usual activities immediately after the peel. For maximum results, a series of BHA peels are recommended.

Benefits
Considered a mild to moderate peel solution, salicylic acid is the most common BHA peel and is typically used in concentrations of 20-30 percent. It is a popular choice for achieving visible results without the recovery time needed from harsher peels. Salicylic acid contains anti-inflammatory properties, allowing it to be successful without the side effects of swelling or irritation. BHA peels also smooths and brightens the skin. Rough and dry patches are resurfaced, fine lines and wrinkles are lessened, and uneven pigmentation is reduced. BHA peels also effectively treat acne, blackheads, whiteheads, and plugs of dirt and keratin.

Side effects
There are very few risks with salicylic acid BHA peels. Minimal redness and irritation may occur, but usually disappear within 24 hours. Dryness can result as your skin adjusts, depending upon the aggressiveness of the BHA solution. Topical medication may be prescribed if irritation or soreness persists. Applying light moisturizer will hydrate your skin and restore it to complete the success of the BHA peel.
