Elizabeth Piantanida, MD
Dr. Elizabeth Piantanida is the founder and director of Skin MD Skin Enhancement and Laser Center. She grew up in San Diego, CA and received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of California, San Diego. She obtained her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine with academic honors, leading to her election to the AOA Medical Honor Society. She later completed her Dermatology residency training at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center/National Naval Medical Center in the Washington DC area.
Dr. Piantanida is Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. She serves as adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology through Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences School of Medicine. Her areas of expertise include general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Her experience includes medical directorship at The Skin Enhancement Center of Pinehurst Dermatology, NC. She has 12 years of experience with Botox, injectable fillers and numerous skin laser systems. When not working, Dr. Piantanida enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling and spending time with her husband and three sons.
James Twede, MD
A native of northern Utah, Dr. Twede received his B.A. Degree in Chinese from the University of Utah followed by his Doctorate in Medicine (MD) at Uniformed Services University where he graduated near the top of his class. He completed his interniship at Tripler Army Medical Center, where he was distinguished as the top intern in his class. He completed his residency at the combined National Navy Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Medical Center dermatology residency program. He has received multiple academic rewards to include the Medical Dermatology Society Mentorship Award for treatment of complicated skin disorders and the Emma M. Bockman Award for research and academic achievement.
Dr. Twede has extensive training in cosmetic dermatology and provides extensive cosmetic services including laser procedures, dermal fillers (Sculptra, Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse). Botox treatments, sclerotherapy, chemical peels, and surgical correction of acne scars.
Dr. Twede is board certified in Dermatology and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology. He has authored numerous academic journal articles and has lectured on a variety of dermatology topics at both local and national meetings. When he is not working, Dr. Twede enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding and spending time with his wife and two children.
